A Love Story Told Through Ballparks

Some love stories are remembered through photographs, songs, or handwritten letters. Aaron Gibbs and his wife are telling theirs one ballpark at a time.

Their shared love of baseball surfaced shortly after they began dating 15 years ago in Austin, Texas. For Aaron’s wife, that love traces back to Boston in 2004, when she watched the Red Sox complete their unforgettable comeback against the Yankees before winning their first World Series in 86 years.

For Aaron, baseball feels like childhood. Growing up in San Diego, he idolized Padres legends like Tony Gwynn and Goose Gossage. He has proudly cheered for the Friars since 1982.

Their first game as a couple was Red Sox versus Rangers at the now-demolished Ballpark in Arlington. Since then, baseball has remained a constant in their relationship. Whether they were watching their local Triple-A team or traveling to see an MLB game, the ballpark became a place where they could slow down, cheer together, and add another memory to their story.

Eventually, Aaron’s wife even became a Padres fan.

Last year, they made a pact: visit every MLB ballpark, watch a game, and spend time exploring each city together.

That Christmas, she surprised Aaron with The Wander Club Baseball Glove Wanderchain and their first Ballpark Token. It gave their adventure something tangible—a growing collection that honors where they’ve been while keeping them excited about what comes next.

Their latest stop was Chicago’s Wrigley Field, where they experienced its ivy-covered history and unmistakable nostalgia. The Padres may have lost badly, but the memory was still worth preserving. By the next morning, Aaron had already ordered their Wrigley Field Token.

And just like that, conversations about the next ballpark began.

Aaron, thank you for reminding us that the best collections aren’t simply records of places visited. They’re stories of the people beside us through every inning.
