A Last Hurrah, One Token at a Time: Janeen & Monica’s Story
At The Wander Club, we believe travel is about more than miles on a map. It’s about honoring the people we love, the stories that shape us, and the moments that stay with us long after the journey ends.
For sisters Janeen and Monica, their Wander Club collection represents exactly that: a once-in-a-lifetime trip with their 89-year-old father, filled with family, history, and memories they’ll cherish forever.
“This past June my dad embarked on a trip of a lifetime across the country,” Monica shared. “He is 89, and this was his last hurrah.”

What began as careful planning quickly became something far more meaningful. Their dad wanted to visit friends and family, reconnect with his past, and do some sightseeing along the way. Monica helped plan the journey and joined him midway, meeting up with Janeen in Iowa.
“We spent time learning about his family history in the town of Grinnell, Iowa,” Monica said. “He got to see cousins he hadn’t connected with for over 20 years. He even visited an old Army buddy from when they served together over 60 years ago.”
From there, the journey unfolded across the Midwest and beyond. Janeen and their dad continued traveling through numerous states, visiting loved ones, and stopping at five National Parks along the way.
“This was SUCH a special trip with our Dad,” Janeen shared. “We went through five National Parks and saw so much more.”

As a way to honor the journey and the incredible effort it took to make it happen, Janeen searched for a meaningful gift for her sister. That’s when she discovered The Wander Club.
“When I opened the package from The Wander Club, I was amazed at the quality,” Monica said. “My sister had my initials put on the keychain and sent a token for every single state and national park that we visited!”

Each token became a tangible reminder of a shared memory. A moment. A place. A feeling.
“It was so fun adding each one to the keychain,” Monica shared. “Every single token reminded me of all the memories shared with my dad. This is such a great memento that I will cherish for the rest of my life.”
For Janeen, the collection continues to serve as a powerful keepsake.
“Being able to hold this Wander Club token ring and just slowly turn through all the tokens brings such lovely reminders from each place. Thank you, Wander Club!”

Their story is a beautiful reminder that travel isn’t always about what’s next. Sometimes, it’s about honoring what’s now. About slowing down. About saying yes to one last big adventure with the people who mean everything.
Here’s to Janeen, Monica, and their dad, and to a journey filled with love, legacy, and memories that will live on, one token at a time.
