At The Wander Club, we believe that every Token carries a memory, not just of where you’ve been, but who you’ve become along the way. That’s the heart of Wanderer of the Week, our new weekly series spotlighting the stories behind the collections. Each week, we’ll feature one of our incredible customers and the meaningful moments that fuel their love of travel and collecting.
From joyful milestones to deeply personal journeys, these are the reasons we wander – and why we collect. We hope these stories inspire you to pause, reflect, and maybe even share your own with us.
Meet Dorine B. — World Traveler
For Dorine B., travel was more than a dream — it was a plan. “I needed a plan to escape generational poverty and to see the world,” she shares. So right after graduating from high school, she joined the military and began a global journey that would shape her life. Through her service in the U.S. Army, Dorine traveled extensively, immersing herself in different cultures and languages — experiences that sparked a lifelong sense of wanderlust.
“I love to learn about different cultures and I like hearing other languages,” she says, reflecting on what first drew her in. Her passion for exploration didn’t end with her military career. After retiring from the Army and soon retiring from her role as a middle school U.S. history teacher, Dorine finds herself revisiting the past in a different way: “Now...I like sitting with my memories of a life well-lived.”
Her collection of Wander Club tokens has become a treasured part of that reflection. “Each token I buy triggers a beautiful place and memory for me,” she says. “My tokens make my heart smile, and I look forward to collecting more.”
But Dorine’s journey isn’t just about looking back — it’s also about what she’s passing forward. “My collection of Wander Club tokens is the prized possession that reminds me of how my travel dreams are becoming my reality,” she explains. “In retrospect, my ultimate dream is to inspire my granddaughter to believe that world travel is an essential part of her personal growth and evolution.” That intention took shape in a meaningful gift: her granddaughter’s very first Wander Club token holder. “In doing so,” she adds, “I can now see my continuation, and this makes my heart smile.”
Dorine’s story is one of strength, service, and deep love — for learning, for her family, and for the world. We’re honored to be part of her journey.
