Wanderer of the Week: Lissa & Jim

Collecting Memories, One National Park at a Time

Some of the best chapters in life begin after the house gets quiet.

For Lissa and Jim, becoming empty nesters didn’t mean slowing down. It meant finally leaning into something they had always loved doing together: exploring the world side by side.

Over the years, they’ve shared countless adventures, including more than 17 cruises together. But in the last five years, their travels have taken on a different rhythm.

More road trips. More national parks. More time soaking in the beauty waiting just a few states away.

And somewhere along the way, those trips became about more than simply visiting new places. They became a way to celebrate this season of life together.

Still, when Lissa reflects on their favorite memories, one trip rises above the rest.

A week in Sedona with their two adult daughters.

The kind of trip that feels almost impossible to recreate once kids grow up and life pulls everyone in different directions. Yet there they were, surrounded by red rock mountains, sharing meals, laughter, and quiet moments together before making their way to the Grand Canyon.

Some places stay with you forever not because of what you saw, but because of who was standing beside you when you saw it.

That trip became one of those memories.

So when Lissa came across The Wander Club, she immediately knew she wanted to find a meaningful way to honor the adventures they had shared together. The only problem? Choosing which memories to start with.

“I was torn on which type of tokens to gift to my husband for Christmas,” she shared.

In the end, the decision felt obvious.

National Parks.

Not just because they had already visited incredible places like the Grand Canyon, the Smoky Mountains, and Dry Tortugas, but because so many more parks still sit waiting on their bucket list.

Each token became more than a destination marker. It became a snapshot of a moment in time. A reminder of standing together at the edge of the Grand Canyon. Of exploring trails through the Smoky Mountains. Of dreaming about Yellowstone and the adventures still ahead.

And when Lissa personalized the token holder with Jim’s initials and gifted it to him for Christmas, it became something even more meaningful: a collection of their story together.

That’s the beautiful thing about travel memories. They grow with you.

What starts as a single trip slowly becomes a timeline of your life. Seasons change. Kids grow up. Priorities shift. But the memories you make together become anchors you carry forever.

For Lissa and Jim, their Wanderchain isn’t finished. In many ways, it feels like they’re just getting started.

More parks to visit. More sunsets to chase. More memories waiting to be added, one token at a time.

Lissa and Jim, thank you for sharing your story with us and reminding us that adventure doesn’t have an expiration date. Sometimes, the most meaningful journeys happen in the chapters you never expected would become your favorite.

And sometimes, the smallest keepsakes hold the biggest memories.
