Where Home Meets Adventure: Katie’s Story

What if your biggest adventure wasn’t just the places you visit…but the life you build along the way?

For Katie, wandering has never been about choosing between home and travel.

It’s about embracing both.

Her Wander Club collection tells a story that started nearly 11 years ago in the UK, where she met her best friend while living abroad. What began as a shared experience in a new country turned into a lifelong friendship built on creativity, courage, and constant adventure.

Today, they’re still traveling together in their own way.

Long distance hasn’t slowed them down. If anything, it’s given them more reasons to explore. Whether they’re visiting each other’s homes or meeting somewhere new, they continue to chase experiences side by side.

“She is an author and I illustrate our children’s books.”

Together, they’ve turned their creativity into something meaningful. But beyond the work, it’s their shared mindset that defines their journey.

Taking chances. Stepping outside their comfort zones. Saying yes to the unknown.

That’s what being a wanderer looks like for Katie.

And this past year, her story added a new chapter.

While celebrating a friendship rooted in travel, she also reached a dream that had been on her heart for years. She bought her first home in her favorite town in the world.

A different kind of milestone, but just as meaningful.

“As much as I love to travel, I’ve always dreamed of having a home to fill with photos and memories… a place to land and dream up new adventures.”

To celebrate both moments, she gifted matching Wander Club keychains to herself and her best friend. Each one carries a “bucket list” token and a token from England, the place where everything began.

But Katie’s keychain holds something even more personal.

Her house key.

Right alongside her tokens.

It’s a simple detail, but it says everything.

Her UK token reminds her of the moment she learned to lean into the unknown. That there are people and places around the world she can call home.

And now, her actual home key sits beside it. A symbol of everything she’s built since then.

For Katie, wandering isn’t about constantly moving.

It’s about creating a life where adventure and belonging can exist together.

Where you can explore the world… and still have a place to return to.

Katie, thank you for reminding us that sometimes the most meaningful journeys lead you both outward and inward. That home isn’t the opposite of adventure. It’s part of it.

And that the places and people that shape you stay with you, wherever you go.

Where has your journey taken you… and what does “home” mean to you?

We’d love to hear your story. Share your adventures with us through this link or email hi@thewanderclub.com for a chance to be featured as our next Wanderer of the Week.
